The club was originally founded as a BSAC club, club number 0149, back in 1962, until recent years this has been the foundation and the building blocks of our club.
While we are still affiliated with BSAC we also take divers from every agency and wherever they might come from. You don’t have to come from Tunbridge Wells to join the club, we have members from far and wide including Chatham, Poole, Maidstone, Paddock Wood, Newhaven etc, its not about where you come from or whom you trained with, but what you have in common.
We are a non profit making club.
The club has its own rib, (6.9 mt long) with an inboard diesel engine; she is run and maintained by us.
We have a compressor that pumps clean air to a maximum of 300 bar.
Unlike many other clubs, we go diving.
If you like diving, making the dive work for every one to enjoy, driving the boat, shotting the wreck,getting stuck in with what ever needs doing, wreck hunting, wreck naming, being part of a team and making it work for yourselves, where every dive is an adventure, then you are looking in the right place.
We have a strong wreck diving background, this is our bread and butter diving. We have a huge selection of wrecks, charted and uncharted in all depths. The boat is always well run with some very experienced boatman in the club and well qualified divers at hand to help on the dive as needed.
We normally dive up to 12 mile radius from Newhaven but venture out 20 plus miles on planned occasions.
We generally dive around the 30-36 mt range, we do go shallower and sometimes deeper.
Unfortunately we can't offer diver training, but do run a few in-house boat courses as required.
We have social events, meals, BBQ’s.
There are a few who religiously frequent the Royal Wells Hotel for a few beers and a chat every Wednesday.
There are Anorak tours, these are during winter months, and tend to be anything nautical, from one day to a weekend or slip over the channel to France for a few days.
We do diving trips abroad.
Diving weekends, we also do a Newhaven week, Eastbourne weekend and Littlehampton week end in the planning.
Some of the clubs highlights have been;
Wreck naming, 7 in total to date.Five in the last four years.
